1.Colorants for PVC

PVC is a very important general thermoplastics, widely use for general or even high grade situation include building materials, cars, window profiles, pipes etc. It’s processing temperature is low as almost around 180C, that a dozen of organic pigments can be chosen, however a important effect named “Blooming” need to carefully avoid.

The phenomenon “Blooming” can be considered to be caused by the partial dissolution of the organic pigments recrystallized at room temperature while it should be totally dissolution in procession temperature. It’s particularly happened in soft PVC, because of the dissolution of pigments increased while the plasticizers added in the resin, that’s made the dissolution pigments being to much and more easier cause the blooming, so as other additives may cause the blooming too.

That why we chosen pigments for PVC normally according the grades of application.

General pigments for PVC, normally economic but average durability, includes PIGMENT RED 168; PIGMENT ORANGE 13, PIGMENT ORANGE 34, PIGMENT RED 48:1, PIGMENT RED 48:2, PIGMENT RED 48:3, PIGMENT RED 57:1 etc;

High grade applications we can chose PY 139, PY183, PY191, PO43, PY151, PR214, PR242 etc;

For outdoor applications, PY24, PY110, PBr23, PBr25, PR122, PB15, PB60, PG7, PV23 can be as candidates.

2. Colorants for PA   

For coloring PA, we can chosen two series of colorants includes organic pigments and solvent dyes. For average effects, PY148, PY150, PY187, PR149, PR177, PV23 can be as candidates; For higher requirements, the PY192, PO68, PB15:3, PG7 can be chosen.

3.Colorants for Polyesters include PET and PBT

More while it employee solvent dyes as the colorants, but the organic pigments like PY138, PR214, PR242 etc also can be consideration.

4.Colorants for ABS

For coloring of ABS, normally chose the solvent dyes that available to gain a better transparency, good light fastness properties, but also available to mix with the inorganic pigments to produce the non-transparent products. The widely used solvent dyes includes SY93, SO60, SR111, SR135, SB104, SG3 etc.

5 PS, SAN, PMMA, PC

Not only some organic pigments employed, but we should more consider the solvent dyes while it’s heat resistance more acceptable, normally 280-300C, the high dissolution in resin helpful to form a stable molecular shows higher color tinctorial strengthen.
